Oak House Farm News

Updated: Jul 30, 2020

The past few weeks have been very difficult for everybody. We are all working hard to keep supplying you with food and aim to remain open.

Yesterday we planted our lupins. We planted these because the seeds are high in protein and extremely good in animal feed, replacing imported soya in our home-made rations.

Lupins are a legume that fixes nitrogen from the air into the soil so they do not need artificial fertiliser to be applied.

Lupins are also used in ornamental flower gardens so we are hoping for a pretty field in a few weeks’ time.

We will update on our lupin experiments throughout the year.
